Comfrey, Minn. – Services for Melvin Perry Triplett, 77, will be held Monday at the West Sveadahl Lutheran Church, rural St. James, Minn.; interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Estherville at 2 p.m. Monday afternoon. He died Wednesday, July 9, 1986 at Sioux Valley Hospital, New Ulm, Minn.Friends may call at the Strum Funeral Chapel at Comfrey from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday and at the church one hour prior to services.
He was born Oct. 29, 1908 at Green City, Mo., the son of Sherman and Clara (Mitchell) Triplett. On Nov. 30, 1939 he was united in marriage with Paulina Naas at Spirit Lake. The couple farmed in the Spencer and Dolliver areas before moving to Comfrey in 1957. He was a member of the West Sveadahl Lutheran Church where he had served as a deacon.
Survivors include his wife Paulina, Comfrey; a daughter Mrs. Ron (Rosalie) Lindeen, Comfrey; son James Triplett, Guam; three grandchildren; three sisters: Mrs. Ed (Arleva) McKean, Estherville; Mrs. Elmer (Roxanna) Houge, Spirit Lake and Mrs. Maynard (Hazel) Anderson, Azuza, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister and two brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 10, 1986)
