Estherville – Services for Chad Lewis Yost, 68, will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Robert Kunz and Rev. Ernie Strandberg officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with Military Graveside Services by American Legion Post 91 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3388, Estherville. He died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 1986 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester, Minn.

Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born March 20, 1917 at Mason City, the son of Charles L. and Fleeta Fern (Burman) Yost. He received his education in the Bristow schools graduating in 1935. Following school he served in the United States Navy in submarine service. After attending Frye Aircraft School he returned to service in World War Two in the United States Coast Guard as a Chief Electricians Mate. On June 13, 1942 he was united in marriage with Anne Hines Vetter at LaCrosse, Wis. After World War Two he operated West Point Lockers in Bristow and Allison. The family moved to Estherville in 1957 where he was employed by Gamble Robinson Co., later the Emmet County Soil Conservation Service as a soil technician. He retired in 1983.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3388; was Worshipful Master of the Masons Lodge; Worthy Patron of O.E.S. in Bristow; he also held a pilot’s license; he was a member of the Noon Kiwanis and Bustle Rustlers Square Dance Club. He was currently Vice President of the South West Federation of Minnesota Square Dance Association.

Survivors include his wife, Anne, Estherville; three daughters: Lauralee Lavelle, Arlington Heights, Ill., Lynda Anne Yost, Buffalo Grove, Ill. and Lyla Fern Dozier, Des Moines; two grandchildren; one brother Paul Yost, Tea, S.D.

He was preceded in death by his parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 8, 1986)
