Longtime Resident of City Dies
Frank Wilkinson, longtime resident of Estherville, died at 5:55 p.m. yesterday of a heart attack at Holy family hospital. He was 68.Mr. Wilkinson was born Feb. 27, 1886, in Clark county near Osceola and was reared on a farm there. He came to Estherville in 1916 where he has worked as a blacksmith, policeman, railroadman and employee at the Tobin Packing company for the past 17 years.
Surviving his death are his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Roy Stockburger of Shell Lake, Wisc., and Mrs. Vernon Landmesser of Estherville; seven grandchildren; four brothers and a sister.
Funeral services have not been completed pending word for relatives at a distance. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 9, 1954)
Mr. Wilkinson Was Employed at Tobins 17 Years
Frank Wilkinson was born Feb. 27, 1886, and died March 8, 1954, at 5:55 p.m. at Holy Family hospital. He was 68. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery.The son of Joseph M. and Maranda J. Wilkinson, he was reared to manhood on a farm at Liberty in Clark county. As a young man he joined the United Brethren church and later the Methodist church. He was married on Feb. 20, 1906, to Calista Ellen Roe.
Mr. Wilkinson moved from Liberty to Terril and the following year moved to Estherville, where the Wilkinson family has resided since. The Wilkinsons had two daughters.
Mr. Wilkinson is survived by his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Roy (Hazelle) Stockburger of Shell Lake, Wisc., and Mrs. Vern (Stella) Landmesser of Estherville; seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, four brothers and one sister. His parents and a sister preceded him in death.
Until he retired three years ago, Mr. Wilkinson had been employed at the Tobin Packing company as a refrigeration engineer for 17 years.
Out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wilkinson, Luther Wilkinson, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Wilkinson, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Chuchelon, all of Indianola; Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Anderson and children of Rice Lake, Wisc.; Dean Kenowski, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Parker, Roy Stockburger, Dan Judy, Richard Stockburger, all of Shell Lake, Wis.
