Last Rites To Be Held On Saturday
Funeral services for Mrs. Fred Van Valkenburg, who died unexpectedly yesterday morning at the age of 67, have been set for Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Sternborn-Reese Chapel here.Mrs. Van Valkenburg was found unconscious at her home Tuesday evening by police and was taken to the hospital. She died the next morning.
Ruth Irland was born Nov. 11, 1893, at Storm Lake, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Irland. She was educated in Storm Lake and Terril schools.
In 1909 she was married to Lester Hite at Estherville. They had one daughter, Mrs. William (Florence) Bradford, Dalton, Ill. Hite died in 1914.
Mrs. Hite was remarried in 1920 to Fred Van Valkenburg, who also preceded her in death.
She moved to a farm between Estherville and Terril in 1901. She had been a resident of area since that time.
Besides the daughter, Mrs. Bradford, several brothers and sisters survive: Ira and Orville Irland, Isle, Minn.; Dorus Irland, Dos Palos, Calif.; Ralph Irland, Thiells, N.Y.; Mrs. Hattie Brown, Crown Point, Ind.; Mrs. Emma Dammer, Anoka, Minn.; Mrs. Bellah Salin, Beaverton, Ore.; and Mrs. Mina Carter, St. Paul, Minn.
There are also two grandsons and four great-grandchildren surviving.
Two brothers and one sister preceded Mrs. Van Valkenburg in death.
The Rev. Lester Strubhar will officiate at the funeral services. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.
