Estherville – Services for Mrs. Owen (Dorothy) Morton, 82, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clifford Haider officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Morton died Tuesday, July 14th at Holy Family Hospital.

Henry and Olson Funeral Home is in charge of services. Eastern Star service will be held in the funeral chapel at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Mrs. Morton was born Aug. 24, 1898 at St. Cloud, Minn., the daughter of William and Ella McArdle. She came to Estherville as a young girl and received her education in the Estherville school, she attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls one year. She was married to Owen Morton on July 30, 1919 at Estherville where the couple farmed until Mr. Morton’s death in 1975. She entered Good Samaritan Center in 1978 and has been a resident there since.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star, White Shrine and Beauceants and held offices in all orders.

Mrs. Morton is survived by two sons: Sherman W. Morton, Sioux Falls and Merrill T. Morton, Omaha, Neb.; six grandchildren; three step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 16, 1981)
