Mrs. Dan Kane Dead
Mrs. Dan Kane, one of the old residents of this place, died at that home of her son, William, at Estherville Monday. The funeral will be held at that place today. For many years Mrs. Kane had been in poor health, enfeebled by age. She made her home here with her daughter, Mrs. M. N. Nolan, from the time of her husband's death about twelve years ago until the daughter moved to Canada a year or so ago. Mrs. Kane will be well remembered by the old settlers who knew her well during the active years of her life. For many years the Kane family resided on a farm on the bank of the river a short distance west of town. The deceased was a good, true woman, a thorough Christian and a devout member of the Catholic church. She leaves two sons, William Kane of Estherville and Michael Kane of Ft. Dodge and three daughters, Mrs. Hugh O'Neil who resides in Nebraska, Mrs. Mike Nolan who resides in Canada and one other daughter whose given name was Lucy. The Tribune extends sympathy to these surviving relatives. (Palo Alto Tribune, Emmetsburg, IA, April 16, 1913)
