James Franklin "Buster" Misener 1910-1943

James Buster [Franklin] Misener, 33, passed away at Oakdale at 5:45 this morning. He is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Al Misener. Mr. and Mrs. Misener went to Oakdale to be with him last week.

He was born May 17, 1910 at Estherville. He was married June 4, 1937 [per SD Marriage index, June 2, 1938] to Lucille Oldre of Pipestone, Minn. For a number of years he worked out West on a cattle ranch and then returned to Estherville to make his home.

He received his education in the Estherville schools.

Mr. Misener was working at Black’s Grocery at the time he was taken ill with tuberculosis. He went to Oakdale two and a half years ago.

Surviving are his widow; his four year old daughter, Patricia; three brothers, Robert, who entered the army last Thursday, Gene at Des Moines, and John, who is in the navy and is at sea; a sister, Mrs. Herb Bergeson of Estherville; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Al Misener.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete yet, until the folks get home from Oakdale. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, May 13, 1943)

Last Rites For James Misener Held Sunday
Funeral services for James Misener were held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock from the house and at 2:00 o’clock from the Baptist church. The Rev. G.E. Forssell conducted the services and interment was in the Oakhill cemetery.

Mr. Misener passed away Thursday morning at Oakdale, with tuberculosis the cause of death. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, May 20, 1943)
