Mrs. Alfred Misener Dies at 69
Mrs. Alfred (Flossie) Misener, 69, 1005 4th Ave. N., longtime Estherville resident, died at 9:45 this morning at her home. She had been ill with cancer for some time and last Thursday went into a coma. Her son, Robert, with the Armed Services in Germany arrived home this morning about 10 mintues before his mother’s death.Mrs. Misener, the former Flossie Harriet Holes [Holmes], was born March 27, 1888 at Poplar Grove, Ill. to Jake and Emma Holmes. She moved to Estherville with her parents at the age of one year and had lived here ever since with the exception of one year during which she lived at Worthington, Minn. She received her education in the Estherville schools, graduating from high school with the class of 1908. On June 24, 1908, she married Alfred L. Misener at Viroqua, Wisc. Five children were born to this union.
Survivors are her husband, Alfred; one daughter, Mrs. Herb (Margaret) Bergeson, Estherville; three sons, Gene of Brainerd, Minn., Robert in the Armed Services and John of Milton, Wisc.; 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her twin brother, Frank, of Milton, Wisc. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one son, Franklin. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 4, 1957)
