Joseph Edward Timmons 75, of rural Estherville died Monday at 5:30 p.m. at Holy Family Hospital following a brief illness. Had been hospitalized since last Wednesday.
Mr. Timmons was born Sept 16, 1884 in Lawn Ridge, Ill. On Feb 8, 1908 he was united in marriage to Elfa Stotts in Churdan. they farmed near Churdan until moving to this area. In 1914 he and his moved to the farm on which they have made their home for the last 45 years.
Survivors include his widow, three sons, Edward, Ivan and Neal all of Estherville; two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Irene) Iseminger, of Anchorage, Alaska and Mrs. Gustave (Dorothy) Klingbeil of Lowery, Minn.; one sister, Mrs. Homer (Julia) Wright of Mankato, Minn. and one brother, Byron of Emmetsburg. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Sternborg Funeral Home. The Rev. Eugene Olson will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers are Bruce Anderson, Maurice Larson, Ed Opelt, Wilbur Krier, Elmo Bartleman and Russell Haar, Honorary pallbearers are Tom Juhl, Levi Larson, Henry Anderson, George Bartleman, Louie Krier and Ray Ridler. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 10, 1959)
