Estherville – Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today for Laura M. Mathwig, 97, who died April 1 at the Good Samaritan Center here. Services will be at Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Richard A. Berger in charge, and burial following at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is after 9 a.m. today at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

The deceased was born March 30, 1891, at Huntington, the daughter of Louis and Mathilda (Tobolty [Tobolt?]) Mathwig. She received her education in the Estherville schools and remained unmarried all her life.

A lifelong resident of Estherville, she operated a millinery shop for many years here with her sister, Edith. She was also employed by the J.C. Penney Co. and C.R. Anthony stores.

She was also a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were two sisters: Amanda and Edith. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 4, 1988)
