Estherville – Graveside services for Ralph Mahlum, 75, Glendale, Calif., will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev. Clifford Haider of the United Methodist Church officiating. Fuhrman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He died Dec. 6, 1982 at Glendale. Services there were held on Dec. 11 at the Church of the Recessional.Mahlum was born in 1907 in Estherville the son of Henry and Cora [Martin] Mahlum. He attended Estherville Schools and was also a graduate of Morningside College in Sioux City. During World War II he worked in California as a secretary at Douglas Aircraft and in 1946 he started work as a Judicial Secretary to the court of appeals. He was greatly involved in music and was a 25 year member of the choir at the First Congregational Church of Los Angeles.
Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Gutz, Laguna Hills, Calif.; a nephew, Robert Gutz and wife, Salem, Ore., a niece Cynthia Warren and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 17, 1982)
