Roy Stoddard, 75, Ex-resident, Dies; Services Thursday
Roy Stoddard, 75, Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Estherville died July 27 at a Mesa hospital.

He was born in Burt Aug. 7, 1893, to Max and Rose Stoddard. He worked in Estherville prior to 1922 for the Rock Island Railroad as a brakeman. He moved to Denver in 1922 where he worked as a conductor on the Union Pacific at both Denver and North Platte, Neb., until the time of his retirement in1960, when he and his wife moved to Mesa.

He married Mary Wratten Adams on Sept. 17, 1923, in Estherville.

He was a member of the Denver Masonic Lodge, VFW and Hyland Methodist Church. He was a past commander of North Platte Night Templar and a member of the Eastern Star there. He was also a member of the Tehma Shrine in Hastings, Neb.

Surviving are his wife, three brothers Henry, George and Max, all of Denver; three sisters, Mrs. Gus (Eunice) Johnson, Gowrie, Mrs. Allen (Ruth) Carr, Redfield, and Mrs. Harry (Darlene) Fried, Denver.

Services will be tomorrow at 10 a.m. at the Fuhrman Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the home anytime. Masonic services will be held tonight at the funeral home at 8 p.m. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 30, 1969)

Ray Stoddard, 75, Ex-resident, Dies, Rites Set
Ray Stoddard, 75, died at Mesa, Ariz., Sunday. Stoddard was formerly of Estherville and moved to North Platte, Neb., in the 1930’s where he worked with the Union Pacific Railroad until his retirement. He and his wife moved to Mesa, Ariz., at that time.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Wratten, three brothers and three sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Services are pending at the Fuhrman Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

One brother, George, will attend the services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 28, 1969)
