Larsen Infant, Two Weeks Old, Passes Away
Baby Fails to Live In Spite of Operation
Charles Andrew Larsen, two-weeks-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Larsen, died early Saturday morning at Rochester, Minn., where he was taken the previous Wednesday for an operation it was hoped would save his life.

He was born the morning of Jan. 3 at the Coleman hospital. A blocked stomach tube made an operation necessary and last Wednesday Mr. Larsen took the baby to Rochester in an ambulance equipped with an oxygen tent and with a trained nurse in attendance. The operation which was performed Friday night, might have been successful but the child died as a result of ether pneumonia.

Since birth the child had been given oxygen and had received a blood transfusion.

He is survived by his parents and a sister, Connie. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Sternborg funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Joseph Kennedy. He will be buried in Oak Hill cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 18, 1943)
