Estherville – Services for Maurice Emery Juhl, 72, Rural Route 4, Estherville, will be held Friday morning at 10:30 a.m. at the United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John Bowe officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. He died Monday afternoon, Aug. 27, 1984, from gas asphyxiation in his farm well pit when he was sanitizing the well.

Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home in Estherville after 2 p.m. Thursday.

Juhl was born Oct. 2, 1911 at Estherville, the son of Lewis and Lillian (Origer) Juhl. He moved to Crookston, Minn. with his parents as a boy and attended county schools there. He attended parochial high school in Crookston. He returned to the Estherville area in 1935. On Sept. 24, 1938 he was united in marriage with Margaret Snyder at Estherville. He farmed all his adult life, first near Huntington, later at Rutland, and the last 35 years near Estherville. He was a member of the Emmet County Farm Bureau.

Juhl is survived by his wife, Margaret, rural Estherville; one son, Louis and his wife Mary Ann of Healy, Alaska; two grandsons, Jerry and Joseph Juhl, Healy; two brothers, L. Romaine Juhl, Hemet, Calif. ad Joseph E. Juhl, Mentor, Minn.; two sisters, Mrs. Vivian Johnson, Ontario, Calif. and Mrs. Patricia Warner, Eugene Oregon.

He was preceded in death by one son Nicolas and his parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 30, 1984)
