Funeral Services Held Wednesday For Albert Johnson
Funeral services were held Wednesdasy afternoon from the Sternborg chapel for Albert Johnson, 85, with the Rev. G.E. Forssell of the Union Baptist church officiating. Burial was made in the family lot in Oak Hill cemetery.Mr. Johnson who had lived in Estherville for many years died Monday, Jan. 3 at the home of his daughter in Anoka, Minn. A heart attack was the immediate cause of his death. He had lived in his home on West South 1st street until he sold the place several months ago and went to Anoka. Albert Johnson, father of Mrs. Harry Munson of Jay was brought to Estherville for burial Wednesday afternoon last. Mr. Johnson was a former Lake Fremont resident living on his farm one mile west of Dunnell for many years. He moved to Estherville in 1921.Mr. Johnson was born in Sweden April 3, 1858 and was 85 years old. The past one and a half years he lived with a daughter, Gertrude, Mrs. John Lovens of Osseo, Minn. He had been subject to heart attacks but his death came suddenly after eating breakfast Monday morning. His wife died nine years ago and two children have died, Melford in 1924 and Gladys in 1933. A son Clarence lives in Fort Dodge and came for the funeral. He is survived by this son and the two daughters, Mrs. Lovens and Mrs. Munson and seven grandchildren.
The funeral was held at the Sternborg funeral parlors Wednesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Forssell of the Baptist church officiating. He was buried at Estherville in the family lot.
Mr. and Mrs. Lovens accompanied the body here for the funeral. Clarence Johnson who came for the services was a guest at the Munson home at Dunnell until Thursday. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, January 13, 1944)
