Funeral Rites of Mrs. Hudson Are Tomorrow
Came to Emmet County in 1864
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary E. [Elizabath] Hudson will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 at the Methodist church with the Rev. F.W. Ortmeyer officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery. Pallbearers will be Roy Burt, George Robb, Fred Robinson, Irwin Robinson, Walter Schildknecht and John Lilley.Mary E. Crum, daughter of Martin B. and Mary Ann Crum [Crumb], was born in Edgerton, Wis., Jan. 10, 1860. She came to Emmet county in 1864, when she was four years old. At that time her father homesteaded on a farm four miles north of Estherville.
Married in 1877
She was married June 9, 1877, to Richard R. Hudson. In 1880 her husband became a Methodist minister in the Upper Iowa conference, in which he served until 1898 when they returned again to Estherville. Mr. Hudson died Feb. 21, 1906.For many years Mrs. Hudson was a member of the Methodist church and even in late years she attended church services when she was well enough.

She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Maude Dayton of Estherville, with whom she has been living, Mrs. Minnie Darland of Colorado Springs, Colo., Mrs. Jessie Seevers of Estherville, Mrs. William McCaddem of Bath, N.Y., and Mrs. N.H. Nelson, Okoboji. There are three sons, Howard Hudson of Tracy, Minn.; H.A. Hudson and H.L. Hudson of Buffalo, N.Y., and 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Mrs. Mary Hudson, Resident of County Since 1864, Dies at Daughter’s Home
Mrs. Mary E. Hudson died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Maude Dayton of Estherville. She had been in failing health for several years.Mrs. Hudson came to Emmet county in 1864, when she was four years old. She was a daughter of Martin B. and Mary Ann Crum.
She was married June 9, 1877 to Richard R. Hudson. In 1880 her husband became a Methodist minister in Upper Iowa conference in which he served until 1898. Mr. Hudson died February 21, 1906.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the Methodist church. Rev. F.W. Ortmeyer officiated. Interment was in Oak Hill cemetery. The pallbearers were Roy Burt, George Robb, Fred Robinson, Irwin Robinson, Walter Schildknecht and John Lilley.

Nelson of Okoboji and Howard Hudson of Tracy, Minn. were in Estherville during the last illness and to be present at the funeral rites for their mother, Mrs. Mary Hudson, who died Friday [October 30, 1942].
