Jones Dies After Attack
Charles Jones, 74, died at his home in Estherville at 7 a.m. today. Death was due to a heart attack. Mr. Jones had been in failing health for several years.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Union Baptist Church with Rev. Rawlin Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Eastside Cemetery.

Military graveside rites will be performed by the VFW, the American Legion and Barracks 1896 of the Veterans of World War I organizations of which Mr. Jones was a member.

Friends may call at the Reese Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Thursday until Saturday noon. The body will lie in state from noon until the time of the service. The casket will not be open following the service.

Charles Lester Jones was born on July 15, 1891, at Morrison, Ill. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Jones. He was educated in Morrison schools.

He married Cornelia Miller at the Baptist parsonage in Estherville Nov. 20, 1925.

Mr. Jones attended Minneapolis Barber College and operated a barbershop in Huntington prior to World War I. He entered the services in 1917 and served in England and France until the end of the war.

He was a 30-year member of the American Legion and also belonged to the VFW and the 1896 Barracks of the Veterans of World War I.

Since the war, Mr. Jones worked for Munson Bottling Works and also operated a grocery store for 15 years in Estherville until his retirement in 1951.

He is survived by his wife, Cornelia of Estherville; one son, Lt. Cmdr. Grant Jones of Torrence, Calif.; six grandchildren; and two brothers, Lee of Estherville and Jesse of Davenport. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 25, 1965)
