Good Samaritan Home - Mrs. Hattie Hoggett, who had lived at the Home for five and one half years and died on Feb. 5; (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 6, 1962)

Mrs. Richard Hoggett Dies At Age of 75
Mrs. Richard (Hattie Griffith) Hoggett, 75, a resident of Emmet County for the past 63 years, died yesterday afternoon at the Good Samaritan Home where she had lived for the past several years. In failing health for a long time, her death was attributed to complications of a lingering illness.

Born March 25, 1886 at Clarion, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Griffith.

Her early schooling was received in the Clarion schools. When 12 years of age she moved with her parents to Emmet County and received the remainder of her elementary education in the Emmet County schools. She was graduate from Estherville High School and Estherville Business College. Miss Griffith taught school for many years, teaching both in the rural schools of the county and in Estherville. In later years she operated a nursing home here.

Hattie Griffith and Richard Hoggett were married Aug. 1, 1945 here in Estherville. After Mr. Hoggett’s death she continued to live in their home until her health failed and she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Home.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. George (May) Kirchner and one brother, Lee Griffith, both of Estherville, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were he husband, he parents, one brother and one sister.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hoggett are to be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Union Baptist Church, the Rev. Rawlin Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill.

Friends may call at Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home all day Wednesday and until 11 a.m. Thursday. The body will lie in state at the church from noon until time of services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 6, 1962)
