Wall Lake – Rolland Elkin, 82, died Feb. 14, 1992 at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove. Services were held in Lakes United Methodist Church at Lake View, with interment in Oak Hill Cemetery, Estherville.

He was born Jan. 4, 1910 at Gowrie, the son of Edward and Ella (Hasty) Elkin, was baptized in First Christian Church, Estherville. On Nov. 29, 1936 he married Helen Swartz at Estherville and lived south of Estherville until 1947 when they moved to Lake Park, then Odebolt and farmed until 1965. The past year he lived at Colonial Manor at Odebolt. He was a member of Lakes United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his sons: Delbert of Early and Otis of Council Bluffs; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one sister, Emily Roetman, Lake Park.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife in 1977; two sons; five brothers and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 20, 1992)
