Charles Robert "Bob" Carlson 1917-1989

Tucson, Ariz. Services for Charles Robert (Bob) Carlson, 72, formerly of Estherville and Spencer and now of Tucson, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Estherville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Balm officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. He died Friday, October 27, 1989 at Tucson.

Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Wednesday.

He was born June 24, 1917 at Dunnell, Minn., the son of Carl F. and Clara (Peters) Carlson. He was a 1936 graduate of Estherville High School. He served in the United States Army during World War Two in the Medical Corps. In 1941 he was married to Evelyn Haines at Estherville. Following service he worked at Armstrong for a time, later became manager of Spencer Glass Co. where he worked until his retirement. He has made his home in Tucson the past few years. He was a member of the Tucson United Methodist Church and active in many music groups.

Survivors include one daughter Mrs. Don (Madalyn) Allen, Camdenton, Mo.; three grandchildren: Barbara Hannes, Sara Fontes, David Allen; one sister, Fern Carlson of Estherville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mildred. (Estherville Spirit, Estherville, IA, October 31, 1989)
