ESTHERVILLE - Service for Chris Gifford, 79, will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Estherville with Father Tom Nash officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. He died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 1993 [1995] at Rosewood Manor Care Center.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home. Legion of Mary Rosary will be at 4 p.m. and Parish Vigil Service at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

He was born Dec. 27, 1915 at Forest City, Mo., the son of Chris and Maude Gifford. He attended country school near Forest City. He attended Business College at St. Joseph's, Mo. On April 2, 1941 he was united in marriage with Mary Corkery at Oelwein. The couple moved to Estherville following their marriage where he managed Anthony's Department Store for over 30 years.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church; Knights of Columbus; Elks Lodge and Estherville Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Gifford of Estherville; a son Chris Gifford of Tulsa, Okla. and daughter, Mrs. Steve (Cathleen) Bonstead of Sioux City; grandchildren, Kyle, Kellon and Kurt Bonstead; Michael, Elisabeth and David Gifford; one sister, Mrs. Max (Mary Ann) Peters of St. Joseph.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 4, 1995)
