Former Local Resident Dies
Mrs. Joseph (Emily) [Emily Caroline Broadbridge] Brown, 82, formerly of Estherville, died at the home of her son in Fairmont Wednesday [November 28, 1956]. Her death is attributed to old age and a stroke.

She was born July 20, 1874, in England and moved to the United States at the age of 16. In 1893 she married Joseph B. Brown of Estherville and they made their home here until Mr. Brown’s death in 1911.

Mrs. Brown then moved to Minneapolis and made her home with her son, Milton. They moved to Fairmont from Minneapolis in 1954. She was a member of the Baptist Church at Fairmont.

Survivors in addition to the son already listed, include another son, Col. Ralph E. Brown, presently stationed at Clinton, Mass., and a daughter, Mrs. C.E. Bisbee of Minneapolis. Six grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and two sisters also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Olson Funeral Chapel in Fairmont with the Rev. Richard Stokey of the Baptist Church there officiating.

Graveside services will be held at Oak Hill cemetery in Estherville at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 30, 1956)
