Mrs. Charles H. Brown Dies at 89
Mrs. Charles H. Brown, 89, died early today at the Good Samaritan Home, following a long illness.Christina Sophia Brown was born June 16, 1871 at Sabula, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Haller and received her education in Sabula area schools.
She and Charles H. Brown were married Feb. 20, 1900, in Clinton County and moved to Emmet county in 1905. In 1923, they moved to a farm south of Wallingford and farmed there until 1941 when they retired from farming and moved to Graettinger. Mrs. Brown was a member of the First Methodist Church of Graettinger.
Survivors include one son, Milo Brown of Spirit Lake; a daughter, Mrs. Ben (Leona) Stoddard of St. Paul, Minn.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Also surviving in a sister, Mrs. J.H. Odgers of De Witt. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, who died in 1945, her parents, one brother and one sister.
Family services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Methodist Church in Estherville, with the Rev. Ralph Grote of Graettinger officiating. Public services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Methodist Church in Estherville.
Sternborg-Reese Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Friends may call at the funeral home from Tuesday morning until 11 a.m. Wednesday at which time the body wil be taken to the church to lie in state until time of services. The casket will not be opened following the services. Burial will be in oak Hill cemetery in Estherville. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 28, 1960)

Final Rites Wednesday
Mrs, Charles E. Brown, mother of Milo Brown of Spirit Lake, died at 3 am, Monday, March 28, at the Good Samaritan Home in Estherville. Funeral services took place Wednesday afternoon, March 30, at the Methodist Church in Estherville. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Estherville.Mrs. Brown, the former Christina Haller, was born at Sabula, Iowa, June 16, 1871. She was married to Charles E Brown Feb. 20, 1900. They moved to Emmet county in 1904. Mr. and Mrs. Brown lived near Estherville until 1923 and then moved to Wallingford and later to Graettinger. She had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Home since Feb. 1, 1957.
Survivors are one son, Milo of Spirit Lake, one daughter, Mrs. (Leona) Stoddard of St. Paul, Minn., three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Odgers of Dewitt.
