Arthur E. Brown Dies
Arthur E. [Elphin] Brown, 77, independent livestock buyer for many years, was found dead at 3 a.m. today at the sale barn office. Mr. Brown had had a heart ailment for several years and immediate cause of death is attributed to a heart attack.

He had gone to the barn to load some stock at 10 o’clock last night. When her husband didn’t return, Mrs. Brown went to look for him and found him on the office floor about 3 a.m.

Mr. Brown was born July 21, 1879 in Boone county, His first wife, the former Ida Mae Robb died in 1922. He was married to Mrs. Margaret [Zerke] Johnson, Nov. 19, 1932 in Chicago, Ill.

Survivors in addition to his widow include a daughter, Mrs. Leslie Sheldon of Iowa City; two sons, Maurice of Estherville and George of Iowa City; a step-daughter, Mrs. Walter Piggott of Estherville; two brothers Roy J. of Lancaster, Calif., and Charles of Estherville; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Davis of Harrisburg, S.D., and Mrs. Ed Brickson of Cherokee. Also surviving are a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements, Sternborg Funeral home in charge, are pending word from out-of-town relatives. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 29, 1956)

Brown Rites Saturday
Funeral services for Arthur E. Brown will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock, at Sternborg Funeral home. The body will lie in state at Sternborg’s until time of services tomorrow. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 31, 1956)
