Estherville – Funeral services for Gladys M. [Marie] Booth, 101, of Estherville will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9 at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel in Estherville. Interment will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Estherville. She died on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001 at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 8 at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

Gladys was born on June 14, 1900 in Cushing, the daughter of Ernest Carl Ludwig and Katherine Margaret (Claussen) Heyer. She was confirmed and baptized into the Lutheran faith. She graduated from Estherville high school in 1918.

After graduation from high school, she was employed as a bookkeeper for six years at Shadle Department Store in Estherville.

On June 25, 1924, she was united in marriage to Maurice Morton Bringle in Estherville. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Estherville. Maurice died Jan. 27, 1933.

Gladys served as Emmet County Auditor from 1935 through 1951.

On Feb. 16, 1951, she was united in marriage to George Washington Booth in Minneapolis, Minn. The couple made their home in Estherville following their marriage. George died Dec. 12, 1979.

Gladys enjoyed music, reading and traveling.

She is survived by three daughters, Joyce E. Satern of Okoboji, Jean R. Twogood and her husband, Jim of Anaheim, Calif. and Phyllis J. Woods and her husband, Bill of Estherville. Thirteen grandchildren, Vicki Vergagni and her husband, Ron, Pamela Egel and her husband, Ken, Mike Twogood and his wife, Jan, Terri Harley and her husband, Steve, Todd Twogood, Tom Twogood and his wife, Berta, Nancy Woods, Susan Woods, Bill Woods and his wife, Kate, Diane Woods and Judy Delgado and her husband Rich and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by both husbands; one infant son, Robert Merton; one infant daughter, Gloria Jean; her parents; three brothers, Lester, Luverne and Willard and two sisters, Vera Heyer and Irene Reed. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 6, 2001)
