Estherville – Services for Elma Luella Anderson, 86, Estherville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 9 at the Estherville Christian Church, with the Rev. James Harmon officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.She died Tuesday [March 6, 1979] morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Cecil Eide, rural Estherville.
Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville, is in charge of arrangements. Friends may call at the funeral home between 2:30 and 9 p.m. Thursday and after 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church until time of services.
She was born Aug. 18, 1892, in Canton, S.D., to Mr. and Mrs. William Dick. They moved to Estherville where she attended the Estherville schools, completing the eighth grade.
Following her eighth grade graduation she taught in Estherville until the time of her marriage to T.E. Anderson Nov. 13, 1911, in Fairmont, Minn. The couple farmed northeast of Estherville, living on the same farm until their death.
Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Union Baptist Church, VFW Auxiliary, Service Star Legion and the American Legion of Dolliver. She was a past president of the Service Star Legion.
Her survivors include five sons, Lars P., Francis E. II, Oliver M. and Harold W., all of Estherville, and Lester C., Rochester, N.Y.; three daughters, Mrs. Carl (Emmet) Greise, Dolliver, and Mrs. Cecil (Mae Rose) Eide and Mrs. Doug (Edith) Brandt, both of Estherville; one brother, Albert Dick, Des Moines; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Schrieber and Mrs. Robert (Rose) Olmstead, both of St. Paul, Minn.; 36 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, one son, her parents and one brother. (Estherville Daily news, Estherville, IA, March 7, 1979)
