Verlyn Brown, the son of Harry and Ethel Brown, was born December 7, 1919 at Sherman, Texas and departed this life at his home in Estherville, Iowa on Friday, January 18. 1980 at the age of 60 years, 1 month and 11 days. As a young child, he moved with his family to Emmet County, Iowa. he attended West Emmet grade school and North Superior High School. He farmed northwest of Estherville.

He served with the United States Air Force during World War II and was a prisoner of war in Germany for seventeen moths. As decorations and citations, he received the American Theatre Service Medal, the E.A.M.A. Service Medal, W.I. Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, and Victory Medal.

Mr. Brown is survived by his mother, Mrs. Ethel Brown, and a brother Max Brown, both of Estherville. He has been preceded in death by his father who died in 1977.
