Funeral Rites of Conrad Alt Will Be Friday
Services to Be Held at Sternborg Chapel
Funeral services for Conrad Alt, who died at 9:25 a.m. Wednesday [June 19, 1946], will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Sternborg funeral home with Rev. J.M. Kennedy officiating. Burial will be at Oakhill cemetery.

Mr. Alt has been in failing health the last three years and had been confined to his bed during the past 15 months. He was a patient at Holy Family hospital at the time of his death.

Mr. Alt was born Sept. 20, 1864, in Australia and came to America with his parents at the age of 3. The family lived at Iowa City where he received his education.

He started work on the B.C.R. and N. railroad at Independence, Ia., and worked on the water supply department for 49 years. He was pensioned 10 years ago.

Mr. Alt and Mae Miller were married in 1891 at Iowa City and there are two sons, Glen Alt of Oklahoma City and Stanley Alt of Superior, Wis., one grandson and there was a daughter who died at the age of two years.

He was a member of the Knights of Pythias lodge. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 20, 1946)
