Estherville – Services for Herb Allen [Herbert Kirtland Allen], 87 of Estherville will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel in Estherville. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. He died Friday, July 8, 1994 at Rosewood Manor Nursing Home in Estherville.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

He was born Feb. 11, 1907 at Estherville, the son of George and Georgia (Bass) Allen and received his education in the Estherville Schools. On April 5, 1928 he married Lorah Shepard at Jackson, Minn. He owned and operated a billiard parlor, a theater and a printing business for several years, and has lived his entire lifetime in Estherville.

Survivors include sons: George of Fayetteville, Ark., Charles of Huntsville, Ala. and don of Littleton, Colo.; one daughter, Roberta Rizer of Lincoln, Neb., 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nov. 8, 1982, his parents and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 9, 1994)
