Mrs. Harry Allen Dies; Rites Set
Mrs. Harry (Mollly Esther) Allen, 88, died at 3:00 a.m. this morning at the Good Samaritan Home. She had been in failing health for a number of years, her condition growing worse in November, 1961. Death was attributed to complications of advanced age.

Mrs. Allen was born Jan. 1, 1874 in Pickaway County, Ohio, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lukens. Her education was received in the Ohio and Kansas schools.

She moved to Kansas with her parents in a covered wagon as a young girl and lived for a time in Oklahoma. In 1891 she was married to Harry Allen at Elk Falls, Kans. and moved with him to Estherville in 1922 where he was employed as superintendent of the Rock Island Railroad. For the past 30 years she made her home with her son, Loyd of Estherville.

Survivors include one son, Loyd of Estherville, two granddaughters, Mrs. Pete Ringham, Estherville and Mrs. Kirt Rockne, Estherville; four grand-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. One half brother, Ray Lukens of Ponca City, Oklahoma also survives.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one sister.

Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Sternborg-Reese Chapel. The Rev. James K. Lyon will officiate with burial to be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home beginning Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services on Thursday. Casket will not be opened following services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 28, 1962)
