Estherville – Services for Mrs. John (Ruth) Wiersma, 72, of Estherville will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church south of Gruver with Pastor William R--- officiating. Interment will be in High Lake Cemetery, Wallingford. She died Tuesday, June 28, 1994 at Holy Family Hospital.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

She was born June 19, 1922 at Voenwooden, Holland, the daughter of Klaas Mykes and Cornela Wynsma Mykes, and received her education in the Netherlands. She left Holland in 1952 and on Dec. 30, 1952 she married John Wiersma at Emmetsburg. Following marriage the couple farmed in the Ringsted area and later moved to Henning, Minn. They moved to Estherville in 1988.

She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church south of Gruver. She was also a member of the Ruth Circle and a former member of the C.C.C. Club.

Survivors include her husband, John of Estherville; a son Gary and wife Judy, of Medford; granddaughter, Shelby Kay Wiersma,Medford; brothers: Klaas Mykes of Koolum, Holland and Marinus Mykes of Voenwooden, Holland.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 30, 1994)
