Estherville – Services for Mrs. Walter (Luella) Thiel, 82, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church South of Gruver with Pastor Michael Bennett officiating. Interment will be in High Lake Cemetery. She died Tuesday [August 17, 1982] at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.

Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home in Estherville after 1 p.m. Thursday.

Luella Dahle was born April 5, 1900 in Emmet County, the daughter of Torger and Anna (Rockne) Dahle. She attended rural schools in Emmet County. On Feb. 6, 1924 she was united in marriage to Walter Thiel at Wallingford. The couple farmed in the Estherville their entire lives. Mr. Thiel died in 1972.

She was a member of the Immanuel Evangelical Church and the Ladies Aid.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Thiel of Estherville and Raymond Thiel of St. Joseph, Mo.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 19, 1982)
