Strohmen Rites Will be Held Monday
Funeral services for Clarence Julius Strohmen [Strohman], 51, who died at his home in Wallingford Wednesday [August 6, 1969) afternoon, will be at the Wallingford Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. Monday.Strohmen, who had been in failing health for several years, was born May 11, 1918, at Princeton, Minn., to Mr. and Mrs. Jeremiah Strohmen. He attended school at Princeton and Estherville.
When he was eight years old, Strohmen came to Estherville with his mother. On Jan. 17, 1948, he married Dorothy Jensen Iverson at Jackson, Minn.
Strohmen worked for the Hill Packing Company and also did construction work.
Strohmen is survived by his wife, Dorothy, Wallingford; a son, Edward Strohmen who is in the army in Korea; one daughter, Connie Strohmen of Wallingford; two step-sons, Lloyd Iverson, who is in the army in Germany, and Dwane Iverson serving with the air force in Thailand; one step-daughter, Mrs. Michael (Leanna) Schipull, Emmetsburg; one sister, Mrs. George Helmick, Estherville; 11 half-brothers and sisters that include Mrs. Pearle Jackson, Terril, Mrs. Earl Jackson, Spencer, and Mrs. Fred Harves, Spencer.
Strohmen was preceded in death by his parents, one son and a number of half-brothers and sisters.
Friends may call at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home, Estherville, Saturday evening after 7 p.m. and until 10 a.m. Monday when the casket will be taken to the church in Wallingford. Burial will be at the High Lake Cemetery. (Estherville Daily New, Estherville, IA, August 8, 1969)
