Estherville – Services for August John Klingbeil, 73, will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Estherville with Pastor Richard Berger officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Military services will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Posts. He died Friday, June 14, 1984 at Holy Family Hospital.

Klingbeil was born Jan. 30, 1911 near Pocahontas, the son of John and Teresa (Backes) Klingbeil. He attended the Ware Consolidated School. He moved to Emmet County in 1929 with his family and farmed until entering the army in March of 1942. He served most of the time n the Aleution Islands until his discharge on Oct. 15, 1944. After service, Klingbeil lived in Estherville where he was employed by Fagre Construction on the Holy Family Hospital construction project. On August 30, 1953, he was united in marriage with Della Manz in Jackson, Minn. In November, 1954, the couple moved to the family farm north of Gruver and farmed until retiring in 1982 when they moved into Estherville. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Della, Estherville; son and daughter-in-law: Joe and Marcia Klingbeil, rural Estherville and a daughter, Marcia Klingbeil, Estherville; one grandson, Kent Klingbeil. Four brothers, John, Frank and Henry Klingbeil all of Estherville and Gustave Klingbeil, Alexandria, Minn.; three sisters, Mrs. William (Olive) Hillmer, Dunnell, Minn., Mrs. May Scott, Denver, Colo. and Mrs. Robert (Edna) Weir, Estherville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Edward, Fred and William. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 16, 1984)
