Klingbeil Rites Monday
Funeral services for Mrs. John (Theresa) Klingbeil, 70, who died during surgery yesterday at 12:15 p.m. at Holy Family Hospital, will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Rev. William P. Henline officiating. Friends may call at the Sternborg Funeral Home from this evening until the body is taken to the church. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.Mrs. Klingbeil was born Aug. 30, 1888, at Peoria, Ill., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Backes. She lived in Peoria until she was married to John Klingbeil of Palmer, July 8, 1908.
They lived in Pocahontas County following their marriage until 1930, when they purchased a farm north of Gruver. They retired from farming in 1944 and moved to Estherville to reside at 320 N. 12th St. Mrs. Klingbeil was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
She is survived by nine children and 18 grandchildren.
Her children are sons, August, Frank and John Jr., all of Gruver, Gustave of Starbuck, Minn., William of Lowry, Minn., Henry of Estherville, and daughters, Mrs. Robert (Edna) Weir of Estherville, Mrs. William (Olive) Hillmer of Dunnell, Minn., and Mrs. Laurence (Mae) Scott of Denver, Col. Other survivors include three brothers, William, Robert and Lawrence Backes, all of Peoria, Ill. and other relatives.
Mrs. Klingbeil was preceded in death by her husband Dec. 28, 1945, and two sons, Edward, who died in infancy, and Fred, who died Nov. 7, 1945. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 18, 1959)
