Peter G. Paulson Dies
Peter G. [Gunder] Paulson, 84, rural Estherville, died at his farm home this morning at 6:30 a.m. after he suffered a heart attack while dressing. He had been in failing health for some time.Paulson was a lifelong resident of Emmet County and has farmed southeast of Gruver for the past several years.
He is survived by three sons, Gunder of Armstrong; Kearney of Ringsted; and Palmer, living at home. A brother, Simon of Estherville and two sisters, Mrs. George (Petrena) Nelson of Emmetsburg and Mrs. Charles (Christina) Christian of Estherville, also survive.
He was preceded in death by one son, a daughter, a brother and a sister.

Paulson Rites To Be Held on Monday
Funeral services for Peter G. Paulson, 84, lifetime resident of Emmet County, are to be Monday at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church with a 1:30 p.m. family service to be followed by services at 2 p.m., the Rev. Benjamin Coltvet officiating. Burial is to be in High Lake cemetery.Friends may call at Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home from this evening until Monday morning at which time the body will be taken to the church to lie in state from 11 a.m. until time of the services.
Active pallbearers are to be six grandsons, Arnold, Martin, Ernest, Richard, Eugene and Gary Paulson.
Honorary pallbearers are Peter Aanonson, Clarence Schroeder, Albert Wolden, Tom Olson, Sylvester Berge, Joseph Brown, John Johnson and Sieger Planting.
Also to be honorary pallbearers are directors of the Mutual Insurance Association of Emmet County of which Mr. Paulson was the last of the original directors. Present directors are Arnold Gaarde, S.O. Lundy, Joe Oakes, Lee Miller, Axel Thompson, Art Balmer, Ernie Lauritsen and Robert Valen.
Peter G. Paulson was born Oct. 9, 1877 in Jack Creek Township, the son of Gunder and Anna Paulson. He attended the area schools and on April 22, 1894 he was confirmed into the Lutheran church by the Rev. Mr. Engh.
He was united in marriage on Dec. 22 to Tillie Sorum. Mr. and Mrs. Paulson spent their entire married life on their farm southeast of Gruver.
Mr. Paulson was a director of the Mutual Insurance Co. of Emmet county for more than 30 years and was the last of the original directors. He was township trustee, township assessor and a deacon of his church for many years. Mr. and Mrs. Paulson celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in December, 1958.
He is survived by his wife, Tillie, and three sons, Gunder of Armstrong, Kearney of Jack Creek Township and Palmer, at home; also 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a brother, Simon Paulson of Estherville; two sisters, Mrs. Christina Christian, Estherville, and Mrs. Petrina Nelson, Emmetsburg.
Mr. Paulson was preceded in death by a son, Gilmore, and a daughter, Mabel, both of whom died in infancy. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 30, 1962)
