Funeral Services Here Today For Don Park
Funeral services will be held at the Graettinger Methodist church this (Thursday) morning at 10:30 for Donald C. Park, 48, Wallingford farmer, who died early Tuesday [March 1, 1966] morning at his farm home south of High Lake. The Rev. Ronald Swedberg will officiate. Burial will be in the High Lake cemetery. The Fuhrman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be John Munson, Elmer Iverson, Wesley Anderson, Donald Iverson, Alvin Johnson and LeRoy Oddson. Death was attributed to a self-inflicted gunshot wound at 4 a.m. according to investigating authorities.Donald Clarence Park was born April 15, 1917 at Douds, Iowa. He attended the Douds schools. He married Margaret Simpson Nov. 28, 1942 at Douds. They farmed near Whittemore and Armstrong before moving to the farm near High Lake where they farmed for the past several years.
Immediate survivors include his wife, Margaret; three sons, Gary, James and Robert; two granddaughters; his mother, Mrs. Herma Park of Batavia, Iowa; two brothers, Brian Park of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Larry Park of Batavia; and a sister Mrs. Robert de Spiegelare of Batavia. He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers. (Graettinger Times, Graettinger, IA, March 3, 1966)
