Graettinger – Services for Jim Park, 49, of Graettinger, will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Graettinger with Pastor Luther Flugstad and Pastor Ron Barnett officiating. Interment will be in High Lake Cemetery at Wallingford. He died Monday, August 12, 1996 at Holy Family Hospital.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Graettinger.

He was born Feb. 11, 1947 at Algona, the son of Donald and Margaret (Simpson) Park. He attended country school near High Lake and later attended and graduated from Graettinger High School. On Nov. 15, 1963 he married LaVon Irene Bisgard at Graettinger. Following his marriage, the couple lived in the High Lake area where he worked for several farmers. In 1968 the couple moved to their present farm west of Graettinger and started farming in 1969. He was also employed at John Morrell and Co. in Estherville from 1968-1982. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Graettinger.

Survivors include his wife, LaVon of Graettinger; daughters: Lori Park, Valley City, N.D. and Cynthia Park of Des Moines; son: Scott Park of Graettinger; his mother Margaret Park of Estherville; a brother Robert Park of Estherville; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, brother and grandparents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 14, 1996)
