Mrs. Ladd, 95, Longtime City Resident, Dies
Mrs. William A. Ladd, 95, longtime resident of Estherville and widow of the late Attorney Ladd, died at Holy Family hospital about 5 a.m. today. She had been in the hospital about five weeks. Although she was suffering from a weakened condition of the heart, death was attributed to old age.She was born, Eva Marie Estabrook, Sept. 14, 1853 in Guilford, Vt. Oct. 3, 1883, she was married to William Ladd at Marshalltown, and the couple came to Estherville that same year. Ladd had been an attorney in Estherville since 1882 and engaged in the active practice of law from that time until his death, November 1928.
Mrs. Ladd was a charter member of Grace Episcopal church in Estherville, and was the oldest communicant of the church. She was a charter member of Chapter AY-PEO sisterhood and also was the oldest member of that chapter.
She is survived by a son, Clarence, at Minneapolis and a grand-daughter, Elizabeth L. Borgwardt,, Pierre, S.D., and one great grandson, Steven Borgwardt, as well as a brother, A.B. Estabrook, 99, of Zenith, Wash. Estabrook will be 100 in March, 1950.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Sandin funeral home, the Rev. Edwin C. Bowyer officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.
