Nels Johnson, 82, Dies at Estherville
Nels J. Johnson, 82, died at 2:30 p.m. last Wednesday at the home of his sister, Mrs. L.E. (Helen) Berg at Estherville of a heart attack, which followed many years of failing health.

He was born in High Lake township, Feb, 5, 1874, and received his education at Wallingford. Single, Mr. Johnson for many years was a barber in Wallingford, Waterloo and Graettinger, until becoming a farmer in High Lake township where he later became weed commissioner.

He was a member of the Wallingford Lutheran church. Mr. Johnson is survived by five sisters, Helen Berg, Estherville; Carrie Anderson, Hayward, Calif., Sena Carter and Tina Jacobson, both of Bricelyn, Minn.; and Mrs. Otto Larson, Wallingford.

Funeral services were held Friday at the Sternborg Funeral Home chapel, the Rev. Theodore Maakestad of Estherville Lutheran church officiated. Burial was in High Lake cemetery, and six of Mr. Johnson’s nephews were pallbearers. They were Wesley, Jesse and Harvey Anderson, Glenn Johnson, Merlyn Larson, and W.T. Berg.
