At his home in High Lake township, March 7th, 1885, L.L. Johnson, aged about 33 years, of heart disease.

The deceased had suffered for a number of years with this most terrible malady which at last has done its fatal work. Mr. Johnson was one of the pioneers of the county and was highly respected by a large circle of friends and neighbors. He leaves a wife and two children, an aged father and mother who depended on him for their comfort and care, to mourn his departure. (Northern Vindicator, Estherville, IA, March 20, 1885)
