Edward N. Iverson Dies; Rites Set
Edward N. Iverson, a lifelong resident of the Jack Creek and High Lake townships in Emmet County, died about 9 o’clock last evening at the Holy Family Hospital. Mr. Iverson had been hospitalized since last September. His death was attributed to complications of advanced age.
Born the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nels Iverson on March 7, 1876, in a log cabin in Jack Creek Township, he received his education in the rural Jack Creek schools and attended the Humboldt College at Humboldt.
On Jan. 2, 1902 he was united in marriage to Cecilia Larson at the home of her parents in Jack Creek Township. They farmed in Emmet County until 1938 when he retired. Upon retirement Mr. and Mrs. Iverson lived in High Lake Township until the death of Mrs. Iverson in 1948. Mr. Iverson then resided with his son on a farm in High Lake Township.
Mr. Iverson was baptized and confirmed and a lifetime member of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. He held the position of church secretary for 30 consecutive years.
Mr. Iverson was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one daughter.
Survivors include one son, Edgar of High Lake Township; a brother, John of Wallingford; one sister, Mrs. Oscar Nelson of Osage; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Family services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Monday at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, public services to follow at 2:00. The Rev. Benjamin Coltvet will officiate. Burial will be at the High Lake Township Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the Sternborg-Reese Funeral Home Sunday and until 10 a.m. Monday. The body will lie in state at the church only before services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 10, 1962)
