Mrs. Ida Merklin was born at Lisbon, North Dakota, February 4, 1887 and moved with her parents to Cylinder, Iowa, where they lived two years and from there they moved to HighLake, Emmet County where she lived until married to Gus Merklin on Nov. 1, 1905 and died Oct. 31, 1921. Two years ago they moved to Iowa Falls where they have since resided. She had been in failing health for a number of years and everything was done to prolong her life but to no avail. Three weeks ago she was taken very ill and lingered on until the evening of Oct. 31 when she passed away at six o’clock. It was her wish to go, being very happy as she could hear her Savior calling. She leaves to mourn her death, her husband and two sons, Leonard age 14 and Mervin age 7 and two sisters Mrs. Art Espeset of Estherville and Mrs. Lewis Larson east of Estherville and three brothers, M.O. Grodland of Graettinger, Iowa, Walter of Wallingford and Henry of Illinois, who were all there to attend the funeral which was held at Iowa Falls, Nov. 2nd. It being her last wish to be buried there. We sympathize very much with the bereaved ones. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, November 9, 1921)
