Marion [Ellsworth] Cook Dies Suddenly at Wallingford
Marion Cook observed his 68th birthday Sunday. On Monday he and his wife returned from Tacoma, Wash., where they had been for the past year and a half again to live in Wallingford.Yesterday about 4:30 p.m. Mr. Cook died suddenly.
Mr. Cook was born April 11, 1886, in Sandwich, Ill., the son of Ella May and Stephen Cook. On April 11, 1886 [1910 per 1910 census], he married Iva D. Race and the couple lived in Aurora, Ill., for many years.
They moved to Wallingford 3 ˝ years ago when Mr. Cook retired, and lived there for a year before going to Washington.
In Aurora Mr. Cook was employed as an electric welder for the Lyon Metallic company for 27 years. The last three years he served as president of the local of the CIO there.
Surviving his death are his widow, a brother, Ivan L. Cook of Wallingford, and two nephews, Lee of Wallingford and David in service at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Eva Cook of Sandwich.
Funeral services tentatively have been set for Saturday at the Sandin funeral home and will be reported definitely in tomorrow’s Daily News. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 14, 1954)
