Rites Friday for Melvin R. [Randall] Christian
Melvin R. Christian, 50, died at 2:15 p.m. yesterday at Holy Family hospital following a lingering illness.

He was born April 12 1905 in Jack Creek township, and resided in Emmet County most of his life. He married Olga Handeland Oct. 26, 1926 in Estherville. The couple lived in Mason City until 1935 when they returned to farm in Jack Creek township.

Mr. Christian was a member of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran church south of Gruver.

Survivors include his wife, a son, Loren; two daughters, Arlene and Mrs. Rolland fox; his mother, Mrs. Christina Christian of Estherville; four brothers, Gilbert of Mason City, Carl of Denver, Colo., Milford of Ringsted, and Edward of Garvin, Minn.; three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Wedoo and Mrs. Ann Bringle of Fairmont, MInn., and Mrs. Wilbert Engholm of Bancroft, and a granddaughter, Jolene Fox.

He was preceded in death by his father Charles, a son and a sister.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 at the Sandin Funeral home for the members of the family and at 2 p.m. at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran church. The Rev. C.B. Gunderson will officiate. Burial will be in the High Lake cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from Thursday morning until time of the services.
