Obituary of Charles Christian
Charles Christian was born Feb. 2nd, 1862, at the Village, Norway, Lasalle County, Ill. Parents Thor and Helga Christian. Shortly after his birth his parents moved to Livingston, Ill. At that Place he was baptized the 11th day of April 1862 and he was confirmed at the Mal Creek Church by Rev. O. Tjomsland. His father died while Mr. Christian was still a young man and as the oldest of the boys in the family, he had to help the mother to run the farm and take care of the family.

The Christian family moved to Cass County, Iowa, 1881, and moved to Palo Alto County 1892 from whence he came to Emmet county on the farm in Jack Creek township where he has lived until his death. Mr. Christian was joined in Holy wedlock to Christina Julia Paulson March 30th, 1892. This union was blessed with nine children, four girls and five boys. About eight years ago Mr. Christian was taken sick, with the flu and has been in rather poor health since that time. Four weeks ago he was stricken with parilisim of the vocal cords and it was very difficult for him to talk so that he could be understood. Thursday morning the 18th of November he had another attack of parilitic stroke which brought him into a coma condition. He passed to the beyond Sunday afternoon at 1:30 on the 21st day of November. He was at the time of his death 64 years, 9 months and 19 days old. Those to mourn the loss of a dear husband, father, grandfather and brother are Mrs. Christine Christian and daughters, Mrs. Hazel Wedoo, Clear Lake, Iowa; Mrs. Tomina Weber, Estherville; Anna Christian and Agnes Christian, Carl at Estherville, Iowa; Melvin at Mason City, Iowa; Milford and Edward both at home. And also four grandchildren. One brother, Carl Christian, of Linn Grove, Iowa, and one sister, Mary Benson, of Woonsocket, S. Dak. Funeral services were held both from the home and Immanuel church on Wednesday on November 24th and interment made at High Lake cemetery. The funeral services were conducted by T. Hansen, the pastor of the Christian family. Funeral director, Chas. Anderson; pall bearers, O.K. Bervin, H.H. Peterson, L.S. Berge, L.J. Larson, P.G. Paulson and Pete Cody, of Sleepy Eye, Minn. A great host of relatives, friends and neighbors met up to pay the last respect to Mr. Christian. The casket was laden with floral gifts given by relatives and friends. The choir sang several beautiful and appropriate numbers at the church and at the grave. Mr. Christian was a kind husband and a good father and a splendid neighbor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and also the congregation where he has been an active member from the time he settled in Jack Creek township. But the most and keenest the loss will be felt by the dear ones at home who has the sympathy of all. May God bless the sorrowing family and comfort them as only He can do and gather us all at last for Jesus sake into his Glory Above.
