S. Anderson Final Rites
Samuel Anderson, 76, died Monday [June 10, 1968] at Holy Family Hospital, after a two-month illness. His death was attributed to cancer.

Samuel Neilly Anderson was born April 13, 1892, at Culley Backey, in County Antrin, Ireland, the son of Abraham and Elizabeth Anderson. He received his education at Tullygravely, Ireland.

When he was 19 years old he came to America, settling first in Canada with other members of his family. He remained there for a short time before the family moved to Reinbeck and Grundy Center, Iowa.

He was married Aug. 17, 1917, to Clara Hazel Minton at Waterloo. In March, 1926 they moved to Emmet County and since that time had farmed in this area.

Mr. Anderson was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Estherville.

Surviving his death are his wife; three sons, Gail of Omaha, Neb., Stuart and Rex of Estherville; four daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Charlotte) Mathes of Clinton, Mo., Mrs. Alvin (Edith) Clabaugh and Mrs. Alton (Margaret) Clabaugh, both of Dolliver, and Mrs. Ray (Elizabeth) Vacura of Jackson, Minn.; 25 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Thomas S. Anderson of Culley Backey, Ireland.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Marilynn; one grandson, Ronald Anderson, who died while serving with the U.S. Army; four brothers; and one sister.

Funeral services will be Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church, a family service at 12:30 p.m. to precede the church service at 2 p.m., Rev. H. Allen Wirtz officiating. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 11, 1968)
