Mabel Torreson
Des Moines – Services for Mabel A. Torreson, 94, of Des Moines, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 8 at Wallingford Lutheran Church with Pastor Virgil Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Wallingford Lutheran Cemetery, Wallingford. She died March 5, 1993 at Rosewood Manor Nursing Home in Estherville.Friends may call Sunday, March 7 from 4-8 p.m. at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.
She was born May 23, 1898 in Des Moines, the daughter of Ole Andrew and Helen Lein Torreson. She received her education in the Des Moines schools.
She lived in Des Moines where she was employed by Standard Oil Company for 29 years as a stenographer. She retired in 1956. She was later employed by the City of Des Moines. She has been a resident of Rosewood Manor Nursing Home since the fall of 1991. She was a lifelong member of Central Lutheran Church in Des Moines, being baptized and confirmed there. She also was a member of Chapter 6H of P.E.O. and Sons of Norway.
She is survived by nephews, Ralph Torreson of Estherville, Vernon Torreson of Wallingford and Donald Torreson of Terril; nieces, Marilyn Dallmann of Estherville, Virginia Thompson of Spirit Lake, Carol Miller of Graettinger, Helen Hanson of Boulder, Colo., Ruth Duhn of Carlos, Minn., Lorrine Bolstad of Homestead, Mont., and Darline Johnson of Mesa, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Carl, Chester and Harold, and one sister, Jenny Torreson. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 6, 1993)
