Long-time Wallingford Resident Dies
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 1 p.m. in the Wallingford Lutheran church for Olaf Theodore Strand, long-time resident of the Wallingford community, Mr. Strand died Saturday [March 26, 1955] at 3 p.m. following a long illness at the home of his sister, Mrs. J.M. Wolden of Fairmont. Immediate cause of death was given as a coronary occlusion. Mr. Strand was unmarried.

Mr. Strand was born Sept. 27, 1886 at Blooming Prairie, Minn., the son of the late Rev. and Mrs. Sven O. Strand. In 1909 the family moved to Wallingford and on June 1, 1903 he was confirmed in the Wallingford Lutheran church. He was a familiar figure to members of the Wallingford Lutheran congregation where he served as caretaker for more than 33 years.

When his health forced him to discontinue his work he went on Jan. 6, 1962 to Fairmont to make his home with his brother-in-law and sister.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. J.M. (Agnes) Wolden of Fairmont, a brother, Lauritz Strand of Wesley, two nieces and two nephews. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 28, 1955)

Word was received here of the sudden death of Olaf Strand of Fairmont, who formerly lived in Wallingford. Services were tentatively planned for Tuesday. (Graettinger Times, Graettinger, IA, March 31, 1955)
