Mrs. Anton Stoery Called By Death On Last Monday Morning
One of the saddest deaths in Estherville has had in recent years was that of Mrs. Anton Stoery which occurred Monday morning at the Anderson hospital in this city. The feature that made it sadder than others was the fact that in bringing another bright life into this world she sacrificed her own existence right at the time she was to become most useful in this world as a fond mother. Just why these things occur is a problem we do not know and it is not our province to know. It is beyond the understanding of any but the supreme ruler of this universe.

Just one week from the time Mrs. Stoery became a mother she passed to the great beyond. For the first few days she seemed to be recovering nicely but for some cause fever set in, and there seemed to be no way to check it nor could the cause be located. For three days a raging fever worked at the heart strings of life and at last Mrs. Stoery passed away never having lost consciousness however, through it all.

Mrs. Emma Sando Stoery was born in this county on November the seventeenth, 1890 and has lived here since that time with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T.O. Sando of Wallingford. She was a graduate of St. Ansgar Lutheran college and after returning home was in the Bank of Wallingford and the Iowa Savings bank of this city. She was united in marriage to Anton Stoery of this city on June 10, 1915 and the young couple was just getting a home started in this city. The funeral services will be held at the home here Thursday at 10;30 and at the Church near Wallingford at 2:30 p.m. the remains will be laid to rest in the cemetery at Wallingford, the Rev. J.J. Aker officiating.

The deceased leaves a husgand and father and mother, two brothers and three sisters living; two brothers and one sister having preceded her. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, March 28, 1917)
